rationale/call

“Lullaby Land” also doubles up as a research project that aims to nurture a sense of social cohesion, belonging, and cultural capital for the migrant and refugee communities here in Brisbane. It seeks to understand, through artmaking and associated research, how such an ensemble formation can support opportunities for a diverse community of people who may be full-time or part-time musicians, here in Brisbane. It also seeks to unpack the ways in which this project could, in future, align with the broader cultural diversity and inclusivity goals of the Council, State and Central governments. To this end the Artistic Director Dr Charulatha Mani organises focus groups, meetings, and music-making sessions for members of the broader community to come forward with they say on their multicultural life through music.
